GOCC Controller

Wärtsilä Global Operative Control Centre (GOCC) is a virtual organisation whose primary responsibility is operative controlling across all functional areas and product lines within Wartsila. The working environment is internationally orientated. Wärtsilä offices can be found all over the world. Many different nationalities, languages and cultures are involved. We are looking for a GOCC Controller – Agreements functional area. The preferred location for the GOCC Controllers is within Europe.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Finance and Accounting and will have 5+ years of Finance experience.

As a GOCC Controller, you will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Pro-actively support and communicate with agreement managers, financial controllers, function and business controllers and other relevant stakeholders
  • Support operational controlling of the organization to achieve KPI’s, i.e. agreements changes, margin analysis, training on Wartsila procedures, order book quality, other.
  • Provide business insight to management for decision making
  • Manage, analyze and ensure the data quality in business functional area to ensure the correct financial reporting and following of Wärtsilä guidelines
  • Provide feedback to the organization on ways of working and help to resolve operational gaps in the organisations’ processes and actively challenge convention where there could be a need to improve processes.
  • Act as an expert within own area of expertise, train others and actively seek to improve processes and tools.
  • Take an active role in supporting various stakeholders and ask questions to understand and improve the processes related to own responsibility area
  • Be responsible for the period end closing activities and internal controls reporting in own responsibility area
  • Enable standard business reporting to management and to function controlling related to performance measures defined for agreement processes

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have: 

  • Bachelor/Master degree, preferably in Finance and Accounting
  • Minimum 5 years of Finance exp
  • Experience in SAP FI/CO/CS/PS
  • Good skills in other reporting tools such as QlikView, Power BI and MS Excel
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and international accounting principles
  • Change management skills, driving changes as requested. Forward thinker who isn’t afraid to challenge and has progressive attitude towards tasks and goals
  • Good reporting and analytical skills, being able to explain complex issues in a simple way
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Ability to work efficiently in a virtual team and communicate across teams and functions
  • Ability to see and explain complex issues in a simple way
  • Detail-oriented and able to work shifting priorities.
  • Advance English, both in written and spoken
