SUMMARY OF ROLE

European Commodity Manager is responsible for managing several categories of purchased components (commodities). Another essential part of this role is to develop and execute the long-term strategy to ensure the best cost, service level and quality in the process of purchase.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Negotiating ASCO supply agreements for assigned commodities: Plastic parts, Plastic resins, Industrial chemicals, Rubber and Investment castings
  • Managing full supply agreements
  • Driving the strategy to seek savings and managing inflation containment through ASCO Numatics/Emerson Leverage, Global Sourcing, Negotiation, and Online Bidding.
  • Working closely with Supplier Management, Quality, Planning, Engineering, and Manufacturing to ensure optimal service level
  • Developing formal 5-year strategy to source preferred parts from preferred suppliers for the best cost, quality, and delivery
  • Tracking and understanding market drivers and industry capabilities to aid decision making and design for sourcing
  • Identifying a global supply base capable of meeting Savings, Quality, and Delivery needs
  • Managing and reporting sourcing and transition projects to ensure speed and prevent supply disruption
  • Coordinating activities with commodity managers in other world areas
  • Continuously improving efficiency and effectiveness.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in manufacturing area
  • University degree: Business or Engineering
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technologies
  • Advance knowledge of English in speaking and writing – ability to effectively present information and respond to questions of groups of managers / conducting presentations
  • Negotiation experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel.
