Regional Access Manager works at national and regional level with a diverse group of Public accounts and key customer groups (CL: patients, treatment educators, allied healthcare professionals, healthcare professionals). #LI- LA1
Essential Duties and Job Functions
Focuses on advancing Gilead’s core business from these key customer groups and accounts. Analyses and prepares strategies to customize national direction to the needs of specific accounts. Plans and anticipates for unexpected changes in the marketplace. Provides timely and thoughtful analysis and feedback on product/market conditions to a wide variety of internal customers. Establishes effective working relationships with key opinion leaders locally and nationally which can influence prescribing policy/protocol position. Prioritizes accounts that are under performing and implements ambitious plans for change. Provides appropriate direction and focus to ensure the Gilead team collectively implements the account plan to achieve its commercial objectives. Develops key account strategies to engage customers in win-win solutions resulting in commercial gain. Manages assigned key account budget to the appropriate tactical elements within the agreed budgetary limits and timelines. Supervises direct-to-patient and physician initiatives within the context of assigned accounts.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
Typically requires a BA or BS degree (or international equivalent), preferably in the sciences, public health, public health policy or business related disciplines or a nursing qualification and minimum 8 years of relevant experience, 6 years with a MS/MA degree (or international equivalent), in pharmaceutical industry or National Accounts market segments which includes 1-2 years relevant therapeutic experience in HIV or viral hepatitis. The jobholder needs to be self-motivated and able to work with a high level of autonomy and independence. Must have previous pharmaceutical industry experience and/or experience working with or within National Accounts market segments. Must have relevant therapeutic knowledge to HIV and viral hepatitis. Proven expertise in interpersonal and relationship building skills is required along with strong influencing & negotiating skills. Must be able to credibly discuss the science of the products with Key Opinion Leaders. Is familiar with industry trends and remains current with competitor’s resources and practices. Ability to identify rising issues / solutions / opportunities and is able to present / communicate arguments to management/marketing. Must have an in depth understanding of the functions and inner workings of some, or all, of the following National Accounts markets: Community Based Organizations/AIDS Service Organizations, ADAPs, Corrections, Managed Care and State Government Affairs. Good analytical skills, demonstrated by the ability to identify and understand moderately complex issues and problems, and interpret information in a manner that provides appropriate recommendations to senior management and Therapeutic Specialists. Proven record of success in a similar management role is desirable. Jobholders must have a thorough understanding of relevant marketplace for their role (i.e., MCGA, CIS, or CL). Must be able to travel extensively as dictated by business need. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power point and Word. Must be fluent in conversational and written English.
