SIERRA COLLEGE is application for: SPANISH INSTRUCTOR (ROCKLIN CAMPUS)
Under administrative direction of an educational administrator, to develop curriculum, provide lecture instruction, to evaluate student performance of students engaged in the study of Spanish and other related courses, as directed, and to perform related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.
Knowledge of: Spanish language grammar, composition, syntax, usage, vocabulary, pronunciation, spelling and punctuation evidencing complete fluency in the Spanish language, including dialectical differences; teaching practices, methods, and techniques. PERIPHERAL: Computer operation, particularly word processing and web-based language learning applications; operation of l instructional equipment; CSU and UC transferability requirements; MLA research standards.
Ability to: Lecture in front of large groups of students; explain Spanish language concepts in a logical, sequential fashion; provide students with a «hands on» learning experience in a classroom setting; form and maintain effective working relationships with peers, staff and students; work independently to solve problems. PERIPHERAL: Operate a computer (including word processing software and web-based instructional applications); recognize variation in student backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles; be patient with students; maintain integrity, honesty, reliability, and cooperation.
Education and Experience Guidelines: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Degrees/Experience: Essential: Incumbent must possess a Master’s degree in Spanish OR Bachelor’s degree in Spanish AND Master’s degree in another foreign language OR the equivalent.
Salary & Benefits: Salary & Benefits: Placement on the District?s Faculty Salary Schedule is dependent upon years of experience and level of education. Entry level is from $50,398.50 to $67,538.82 at time of employment. Highest salary level attainable after employment is $90,508.48. The District offers a very competitive benefits package, which includes health & welfare as well as income protection. Employees also will be members of the State Teachers Retirement System. Sick leave, sabbatical and other leaves are available according to the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
