Role Description
On June 7, 2012, Pfizer announced the next steps in the strategic alternatives review process for its Animal Health business. Preparations are underway to file a registration statement in the U.S. for a potential initial public offering (IPO) of a minority ownership stake in Animal Health. The name of the standalone company will be Zoetis™ (zō-EH-tis). Zoetis, will build on Pfizer Animal Health’s position as a leader in the discovery, development, manufacture and marketing of a diverse portfolio of animal vaccines, medicines, biopharmaceuticals, diagnostics and genetic tests to prevent and treat disease in livestock and companion animals. The business markets its products in more than 120 countries with operations in developed and emerging markets and provides comprehensive animal health solutions to veterinarians and the livestock farmers and companion animal owners they support. The business has an extensive research and development network and holds leading market positions across major geographic regions, including North America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific.
The lawyer has responsibility for providing and/or coordinating legal support for the local organizations in France, Italy and Spain/Portugal
Responsibilities
• Function as a strategic partner to help the business solve problems and advance business goals.
• Manage and provide legal support including counseling, negotiation and drafting of agreements, litigation support, regulatory support and review of promotional materials.
• Protect the company through compliance training, SOP review and counseling.
• Add value to the country leadership teams.
• Support anti-trust matters on a EuAfME level.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
• JD degree (or equivalent training and experience that qualifies the candidate to practice law in a jurisdiction in the sub-region) with solid academic qualifications
Experience:
• JD degree (or equivalent training and experience that qualifies the candidate to practice law in a jurisdiction in the sub-region) with solid academic qualifications.
• 5-7 years of legal experience required (meaningful time in private practice with prominent law firm and some in-house time preferred)
• Experience from working with at least three of the four applicable market
SKILLS :
• Fluent in English, both writing and talking, as well as at least two of the languages in the applicable markets and preferably a basic understanding of the languages in the remaining market(s).
• Ability to work independently, with others as part of team, and across boundaries.
• Ability to forge strong partnerships at multiple levels and with multiple groups.
• Ability to exercise independent thinking while communicating a collaborative attitude.
• Strong writing, oral communication, analytical, organizational, strategic thinking and problem solving skills.
