    file0001598322075We are seeking to appoint a Part-time Departmental Lecturer in Language Studies, who will be responsible for planning and delivering the large programme of liberal adult education in modern languages, classical languages and language and cultural studies within the Public and International Programmes division of the Department for Continuing Education.

    The Department has been running its large programme of languages courses since 2003 and offers 10- and 20-week long courses in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Spanish, Russian, Swedish and Turkish at its centres in Oxford and Reading. It also runs weekly classes in Latin, Ancient Greek and Sanskrit; a programme of intensive weekend language training and a small programme of Saturday day schools in aspects of teaching languages and cultural studies.

    The successful candidate will be academically well-qualified in modern language teaching and have experience of teaching and research in their subject at higher education level.

    The postholder will be required to work 90% of full-time hours. The appointment will be made for 1 year in the first instance, with the possibility of renewal thereafter, during which time the postholder will be based at Ewert House. The Department is committed to developing colleagues both personally and professionally.

    Job purpose

    The Card Vendor and VbV security programmes exist to ensure that cardholder data is securely processed during the VbV transaction processing and card personalisation processes.

    The purpose of the role is to:

    • Manage the logical security approval process for the Card Vendor Programme ensuring third party personalisers comply with the Visa Global Logical Security
    • Validation Requirements for Card Personalization Vendors Assess card vendor logical inspection reports, evaluate vendor action plans to ensure that compliance can be achieved, monitor implementation of those plans and grant Visa certification as appropriate.
    • Manage the Visa Europe VbV Security Programme ensuring third party compliance with the Visa VbV Security Standards Provide a centre of expertise both internally and externally with respect to Visa VbV Security Standards and Card Vendor logical security standards

    Key Accountabilities

    • Provide centre of expertise on Card Vendor logical security requirements to Visa approved card personalisers and internal departments
    • Provide centre of expertise on Verified by Visa security requirements to Visa members, third party processors and internal departments.
    • Proactively work with card vendors, VbV processors and Visa approved auditors in establishing corrective plans for any non-compliant areas and ensuring plans are put into action within agreed timescales.
    • Negotiate with vendors and VbV processors to resolve compliance issues and escalate to senior management in a timely manner.
    • Manage the relationship with sub-contract auditors to ensure they perform the audits to Visa standards and all fees and expenses are correctly processed.
    • Liaise with other Visa Regional Vendor Programme Managers and Fraud Teams in identifying cardholder data compromises and contribute to the development of the programmes in order to mitigate associated risks to Visa and its Members.
    • Ensure that Visa Europe audit practices and application of security requirements are in alignment with other regions and performed to Visa Inc standards and represent Visa Europe vis-à-vis regions and Visa Inc.
    • Responsibility and accountability for maintaining accurate records of card vendors and VbV processors and their compliance status
    • Contribute to a revenue stream, in the region of more than $2m, by ensuring payment for all logical audits is received by Visa Europe, resolving any issues between vendors or processors and the Visa Europe Finance department.

    Essential criteria

    • Educated to degree level or equivalent
    • Ideally at least 2 years experience of logical data security including data encryption, key management and network security
    • High level of communication skills and ability to interpret issues of a complex, technical nature CISSP or CISA
    • Strong planning and organisational skills.
    • Works on own initiative and unsupervised
    • Professional presence to deal with senior staff from both Member and Vendor communities European languages desirable
