Position; Registered Nurse/RMNReporting to;
Deputy Manager / ManagerJob Purpose; to maintain the high standard of care within the home ensuring all clients are treated with respect. Additionally, to supervise junior members of staff working on same shift.
KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Required;
• Registered General Nurse Part One of the register
• 1 year post registration experience. Good Communication skills. Good Leadership qualities. Able to work within a team setting
Desired;
• 1 year experience in nursing home setting
Ÿ Previous management experience
Guide;
• Maintaining the home within the Regulation of Care Scotland Act 2001
• Adhere to the Nursing Homes Registration (Scotland) Act 1938.
• To operate the home according to the guidelines set by the NMC
• Facilitate a high standard of Client Care
• Liase with Social Work Department regarding the review of Clients
Main Responsibilities;
Professional
- At all times maintain the clients quality of life, promoting privacy, dignity, choice, rights, independence and fulfilment.
- Report any ill health amongst residents and make requests for GP/ Professional visits where necessary.
- Liase with the client group to ensure that care needs are being met.
- Resolve any problems clients may experience.
- Ensure collection of specimens, and forward to the appropriate hospital department. Carry out all nursing procedures. Administer prescribed medicines and maintain the U.K.C.C standard in medicine administration.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure that each client within the home has an individualised nursing care plan.
- Liase with the multi-disciplinary team and establish a good professional working relationship with the same.
- Inform the cook of any special dietary needs.
- Supervise the serving of meals, ensuring all residents receive a choice, and that individual needs of the residents are met.
- Liaise with relatives and discuss any important issues.
- Ensure a clear hand over report is given to all staff.
- Maintain and update professional knowledge.
- Maintain the confidentiality of information and ensure that any information relating to residents or the home is not divulged to third parties.
- Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with clients personal and financial affairs
- Organisational
- Organise workload by forward planning of the rota, ensuring sufficient cover.
- Assist in raising funds for the residents comfort fund.
Managerial
- Teach by example and monitor the performance of junior staff and assist in training new care staff in all aspects of their work, and recording the same.
- Report any illness of an infectious nature incurred by a resident, staff member or self immediately
- Advise The Manager of any incident/accident involving clients and staff.
- Attend training sessions when required.
- Ensure up to date knowledge of the homes Emergency, Fire, and Health and Safety procedures.
- Report any faults or potential hazard to the manager and log in fault book.
- Ensure the records and log books required by the registering authority are completed.
- Ensure that the manager/or person in charge is informed as soon as possible of the inability to report for work.
