The Network Operations Engineer will be responsible for issues, projects and tasks related, but not limited to, ship and shore network and voice infrastructure, Directnet product and satellite bandwidth balancing. Network Engineers may be deployed to resolve issues, upgrade and install network/satellite systems onboard cruise ships, oil rigs, military locations, and other locations all over the world.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Provide Level 1 support on all provided products and services
-Provide Level 2 support of select products based upon technology specialty (RF/IP)
-Open and/or update trouble tickets for any customers reporting communications or equipment difficulties
-Be knowledgeable and capable of using alternate procedures and processes for restoring communications during primary path outages.
-Follow published standard operating procedures for opening, escalating and closing trouble calls using management information databases and logical troubleshooting techniques.
-Provide remote troubleshooting of shipboard/land fixed/land mobile/stabilized and deployed VSAT systems and terrestrial circuits.
-Test, locate and coordinate the repair of basic communications problems by interpreting trouble calls and analyzing circuit and/or network diagrams using published troubleshooting procedures.
-Coordinate and record new circuit activation including but not limited to operational parameters, testing, documentation and implementation.
-Coordinate satellite channel assignment cutovers between earth stations, service technicians and the customer.
-Assist with earth station equipment and configurations.
-Configure, troubleshoot and support complex RF, voice and data networks based on Cisco and iDirect technologies.
-Configure and support devices including, but not limited to, satellite modems, routers, switches, access points, laptops, PC’s and servers with various operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.)
-Creates diagrams, whitepapers, and training materials to document networks and products.
-Provides pre-installation coordination between internal departments, the customer, their equipment vendor and their local terrestrial vendor. Be responsible for technical accuracy of orders, project documentation, problem resolution, customer communications and notifications of task or problem resolution.
-Serve as back up «subject matter expert» (SME) on all data product offerings. Provide product and technical training to the field technicians and customer representatives needing hands-on training.
-Perform field installations of data and voice equipment including routers, iDirect modems, switches, computers or any other telecommunication related equipment.
-Provide technical support during standard and non-standard workdays or hours to support 24/7-365 coverage. May be required to cover shifts in the early morning and late night.
Assist management in continuous process improvement by suggesting ways to improve processes.
-May be required to be available to travel at a moment’s notice.
-Other responsibilities may be assigned.
REQUISITOS:
Ser titulado por la Universidad de Cantabria como Ingeniero de Telecomunicación.
Nivel muy alto de inglés (será el idioma oficial en que desempeñe su labor)
Conocimientos sobre VoIP, WAN, MPLS y comunicaciones vía satélite serán valorados
