Bishopstrow College Graduate Internship: sport and residential boarding

We are a fully residential co-educational year round college preparing young international students aged 7 to 17 years old for entry to the best UK boarding schools. The college is accredited by British Council and Ofsted. This is a residential intern position for approximately 40 weeks with accommodation and meals provided, salary around £7k.Would suit Sports Science graduate or someone considering a teaching career.

We have a team of 6 graduate interns with similar interests either in sport or education wanting to gain further experience whilst deciding on their future career. They usually stay for around 40 weeks but do not have commit to that length of internship. We deliver sport every day except Sunday when we go on a trip for the day. There is additionally a need for non-sporting skills as detailed below.

 

  •  Daily sports coaching, assisting qualified coaches, e.g. basketball, football, hockey, netball, rugby etc.
  •  Facilitating the extra-curricular activities programme by leading group games, arts and crafts, and introducing and enabling students to access new skills.
  •  Accompanying excursions and leading weekend activities
  •  Day to day boarding duties, e.g. bedtime routines and supervising meals, prep and free time.
  •  Assisting in the classroom under the direction of a teacher.

 
The position will be orientated to play to the strengths and interests of the candidate wherever possible and designed to help and foster their career progression. The position will suit someone who is looking for variety in their work and the opportunity to take initiative. Candidates should genuinely enjoy working with children, be enthusiastic, energetic and be able to work as part of a team. 48/50 hours per week, 2 consecutive days off per week with weekend working on a rotational basis.

 

All placements are subject to enhanced DBS clearance.
