The Department of European Languages and Cultures at Lancaster University seeks to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Spanish Studies with a specialist interest in the culture and history of Iberian Spain.
You will be expected to make a significant contribution to the intellectual environment of a department which, while having internationally reputed research expertise in language-specific fields, favours interdisciplinary approaches extending beyond the boundaries of an individual national culture. You are expected to have an outstanding research record in Spanish Studies with sustained experience of obtaining external funding, to have excellent teaching abilities at both UG and PG levels and relevant administrative skills. You will hold a PhD and will have an interest in Comparative Cultural Studies, Cultural Theory and/or Cultural History.
You will pursue research and publication at a level appropriate for submission to the Research Excellence Framework in 2014 and will be expected to supervise and teach undergraduate and postgraduate students in Spanish language and culture and cognate fields.
Native or near-native ability in all aspects of Spanish language is crucial to this post and knowledge of a European language and culture other than English and Spanish is desirable.
