Introduction of client
Within ASML the sector Development & Engineering (D&E) is responsible for the specification and the design of the ASML products. The department Mechanical Development (MDEV) is designing, building and testing mechanical systems and sub-systems which are fitted into the end products. The group Opto-Mechanical Sources is responsible for the engineering of mechanical modules for the EUV light sources of ASML and the group Precision Mechanics consists of experts who have a large knowledge of modern construction principles to achieve high accuracy in high tech machine design.

Job Mission
As an Expert in Precision Engineering you are responsible for the development and application of mechanical designs to meet system specifications and operational requirements.

Job Description
• Specifies and designs the modules and/or functionality to realize the required performance.
• Uses state of the art design methods and construction principles to ensure adequate designs that can be realized from a technical and supply chain perspective.
• Drives the qualification of the design by contributing to the specification of tests and the design and realization of test equipment.
• Ensures that prototypes are built and tests are carried out.
• Delivers the technical product documentation that is needed to release the design for volume production.

Required education
Bachelor, Master or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, preferable with specialization in Precision engineering, Opto-mechanics or Mechatronics.

Your experience
• Well educated and experienced in the application of construction principles.
• High-class abilities to make stiffness and strength calculations.
• Well-developed analytical ability, ability to design concepts and a pragmatic attitude and capability to translate concepts into practical designs that meet the specified requirements.
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling tools is required, preferably Unigraphics NX.
• At least 3 years of experience in creating new machine concepts (or large complex modules). Covering all aspects like layout, serviceability, transportability, install, performance, etc…
• Preferably you also have knowledge of one or more of the following aspects:
o Light weight and high stiffness designs.
o Temperature, dimension and position stability.
o Design of joints (Bolted, flexible, adhesives).
o Air bearings, leaf springs, dampers, etc.
o Manufacturability.
o Design rules for high vacuum.
o Material application: especially ceramics, energy absorbing materials, fibre reinforced plastics, Steel/aluminum/titanium/invar/inconel.
